With the project, we made students of the last triad of elementary school and students aware through interactive workshops about the cultural contribution of refugees/migrants and their positive influence on the development of the cultural heritage of the new environment. Societies can gain a lot from migration, much more than they lose. Through their activities in many areas, refugees contribute in a way that is neither less nor greater than the contribution of other fellow citizens. The impact of immigrants was linked thematically to current material in other school subjects. We developed activities both in class and outside of school, at festivals and workshops within cultural institutions.
Students developed social skills, justice and empathy in connection with the topics of migration and refugees, mainly through the personal stories of the actors. In relation to the workshops, we will focus primarily on artistic/handicraft expression and the exchange of knowledge and skills, as the language of creation is universally understandable, unites, inspires and, as such, touches individuals on the most personal level.
